The man knew that he was dying. Sitting next to his wife inside a hospital emergency department waiting area, he did something he had never done before. He turned his life over to an unseen entity. He gave up his will to an invisible love. Fiercely independent and proud, this man went against his own instincts, vowing to allow his wife to view him in peace and joy, should he succumb to the bacterial poison that had taken over his body. He lay his head on her shoulder, taking in the sweetness that he had always felt from her. This is when he gave up his will to God. He had no terms for his surrender, just these words, “God, if today is my time, I will accept Your Will”. No bargains, just love!

Much ensuing suffering continues to this day, but the man lives on. His own private miracle occurred because he gave himself over to the unknown.  The faith generated by him is quite simply defined as “Love”. This act of self-giving was faith in his unknown future. He knew that the prospects of recovery were poor, so he relied on the mercy of a God he had never seen, and in the belief of life after death. Life, or death was fully acceptable…..Joy and peace entered his soul, and in receiving these two gifts, he was reprieved, and lived. Seven operations, and other medical problems were experienced during a long hospital stay, but each issue was met with the spirit that initially settled within him. Many, many miracles were experienced by him, as well as by the hospital staff,  and by the many people that visited him. Some nurses were converted to Catholicism, and two reverted back to the faith. The aforementioned are but a few of the unusal happenings in that hospital room. Simply stated, it was love that spared his life. The Substance from which we all come from, heard a prayer, and granted Mercy to this man. This Mercy awaits us all, but it requires faith, and the contrition of the soul to a God that one cannot see. It takes “Love” !

I see love in the modern context as being misunderstood as a feeling of convenience. Many people co-habitate under the guise of love. If one “partner” feels inconvenienced, the pertnership is ended. and they move on to the next partner. Marriage is nearly obsolete. The last marriage ceremony that I attended is well over six years ago. I used to be invited to marriage ceremonies three or more times a year. The United States, and really all the world is suffering from the loss of love. The U.S. has been divided by political chop-shop rhetoric that has succeeded in draining the love and affection for the land that is ours. Hate that generates confusion is used to keep people apart from one another. This hate causes confrontation, and conditions that sometimes cause destructive protests and riots. Love is now based on what ideology one embraces, and what artificial cause is the one to follow. It is political correctness to the max, with “racism” allegations at its core. Those engaged in negative actions against common sense view themselves as loving a cause, but in reality are being used in the “village of hate”.  Anger, rioting, and shutting down people that they disagree with is not love, it is evil. Love is ceasing to exist. It is being “Cancelled” !

Love is defined as an intense deep affection , coupled with a great interest, and pleasure in something, like a person or thing that one loves. With people, it can start with infatuation, or grow over time. Unfortunately, we live in a walkaway society that thrives on egocentric behaviors, thereby giving them the tools to disregard a relationship, and walk away. The chance for true love goes with them. The loss of love is evident in familial relationships, and especially when disputing sides take to attacking one another in the public arena. The notion that disputes are solvable, and that the most daunting problems can be worked out by resonable people working together, is at this point, a thing of the past. This seemingly outdated idea speaks to the lost love of country that most people used to have. In times of crisis, Americans used to gather together, no matter the beliefs, and would stand together as one. Today, we grab on to our favorite political position, and bash one another over social media, through media channels, by hateful protests, the destruction of those that aren’t in the same camp, and by slander and defamation of character. I will give you one example. Fergusion, MO! The country has been burning ever since Fergusion.

The guy of this article suffered in joy and peace because God showed him unconditional love. God was neither Disappointed, Impatient, Irritated, nor Angry with him. Joy and happiness came over him which is the real contentment that we all seek. The door of invitation was opened, he entered, and found that this love came without conditions, dictates, rewards, or punishments. It was open to him because he came into it without any preconditions or preconceptions of his own. Love is truly unconditional. For me to gain a friend from the ranks of those that oppose my point of view, is practically impossible now. Hearts are locked, and any further excursions exploring the world of ideas has passed. We are living in an unrecognizable place, populated by people that have forgotten how to love, and identify with others.

The greatest fear today is of dying. Why? Because people scurrying around trying to buy happiness in any form does not work. They are unfulfilled because the satisfaction they seek can’t be purchased at any price. Accustomed to believe only in what they can see, feel, or hear, people ignore the yearning in their hearts for something more. People now believe that they can self-actuate, thereby bypassing the need to seek out a higher power, God. The song, “Imagine” by John Lenon, is about this very thing. Many people have embraced this idea until the roof leaks, and their “stuff” is getting wet. ( No guarantee that people will change) During the pandemic, I ran across many people that were terrified of being afflicted by the Covid 19 virus. A serious thing, but what I found was that they were afraid to die. Nothing wrong with that, but all common sense disappeared, as people panicked in their fear. Any confidence in the love and hope that God can give us in trying times disappeared, as political figures stepped in and took over for God. You all know  the damage that the politico’s did, as we try to recover from the effects of this totally mismanaged crisis. None of this was done in the name of love. Face it, we were under someone else’s control. Happiness can’t be purchased throwing money at it. The government is spending money in unprecedented amounts on supposed necessities, but it’s all a lie. It is to further control our lives and beliefs. Happiness will not come from this, only misery. What is needed, We are needed! To find love is to gather truth, admit our weaknesses, and to infuse one another with hope. This and only this will heal us!

I write from the perspective of my own experience and knowledge. Your beliefs are your own. All I ever ask for is for my readers to explore the real world, and learn the truth for themselves. Disagree with me if you will, but go to the sources that will give you verifiable information and facts. The truth is out there. Worthwhile things take hard work. When I pray at night, I pray for many people, including my enemies. I ask pardon of those that I have hurt, and I forgive all that have hurt me. God is Love and Mercy, ….. be well!
